Non-destructive Rust Removal

I’ve got a few parts kicking around that I need to try this on. Anyone ever done this? Share your experience in the comments section.

Yup, tried it - works really well, Distilled Vinegar works ok too. Does does tea!

This works. Like baking soda and vinegar to clean grout. There needs to be a book on shit like this.

had good results- the tuff part came in when you have a ‘part’ with curvy body to it. Cuse the next step is getting the black off. on some oler mild steels this proves to be quite a chore. multiply that times the number of parts you need to clean…yep -I ended up at the media blaster. well this is good for small jobs.
    my $.02 worth. great postings!!

Man, haven’t seen this used in a loooong time! But it does work. Like Jason said, the fun begins in getting the “black” off. Steel wool comes in hand too. non abrasive media blasting does good job too and is quicker if your into “immediate gratification”. :)

Great info, thanks for posting your experiences. Some of the stuff I have will definitely get blasted (like my frame obviously) but I was thinking about some of the smaller and simpler pieces. the getting the black off sounds like a good time.
