Tech Docs

I just wanted to point something out that just came to my attention. Unknowingly, I posted some PDFs in the Tech section that contained copyrighted material from The Choppers Handbook. I 100% assure you that I did not know that the materials came from that site, and that if I had known I would have asked their permission. The only reason I found out was because Gary (the site owner) emailed me about it. I immediately offered to take down the materials that he owns, but he has graciously allowed me to keep the documents on the site. The documents have now been marked with links and tags that indicated that they came from that site.

Some of you may be asking how could it be that I didn’t know where the documents came from. Well, the truth is that about a year ago I bought a CD set that had a bunch of old manuals and technical documents on it. Those articles from the Chopper Builders Handbook were on the CDs, and while I breezed through them and saw that the material was perfect for what this site is all about, I never noticed the small copyright indications at the end of the article. My enthusiasm to post new material that I thought would be helpful to the folks who read this site got the best of me; I certainly should have looked into it further, as I plan on doing now with some of the other articles that have been posted. My goal with the tech section has always been to help out other guys wrenchin’ in their garage, not to rip off other bikers. Gary knows that now, and the issue seems to be squashed, so all is well. I just wanted to let you guys know about that and give Gary the credit he deserves.

Many thanks go to Gary for being cool about this and still allowing the documents to be hosted on this site. If you haven’t checked out his site before, make sure you do so because there is a TON of information there about chopper building.
